Our Work
Funding Specialized Instruction and High-Impact Learning Environments
The foundation of the Performing Arts Booster Club’s work is its direct investment in education and learning, aiming to elevate the instructional quality across all supported arts programs. This work includes providing funding for professional development opportunities for arts faculty, ensuring they stay current with the latest pedagogical techniques and performance industry standards. Crucially, we finance the hiring of guest clinicians, specialized coaches, and masterclass instructors—experts in specific instruments, vocal styles, or theatrical methods—who provide intensive, short-term training that dramatically accelerates student learning and proficiency far beyond what is possible within a regular class schedule. Furthermore, our support extends to ensuring that learning environments are equipped with the best resources, funding purchases of digital sheet music libraries, specialized software for sound design and composition, and ergonomic equipment to support the physical demands of instrumental and dance training. This holistic educational investment ensures that our students are receiving world-class instruction and have access to the materials necessary to reach their absolute highest potential in their chosen creative discipline.

Play & Exploration
Creating Safe and Stimulating Spaces for Creative Risk-Taking and Discovery
We recognize that artistic growth requires a delicate balance between rigorous training and uninhibited creative exploration, which is why a significant portion of our work is dedicated to fostering environments of safe “play” and discovery. This is achieved by funding student-led initiatives, supporting improvisation workshops, and providing resources for experimental, non-auditioned performance groups where students can try new roles, write original material, or experiment with diverse artistic collaborations without the pressure of a major production. This focus on low-stakes, high-creativity environments encourages students to take artistic risks, develop problem-solving skills, and broaden their understanding of different artistic forms. By supplying adaptable rehearsal spaces, versatile instruments, and flexible technical equipment, we facilitate a culture where failure is viewed as a necessary step toward innovation. This approach ensures that students remain excited and engaged, viewing the arts as a dynamic field of limitless possibility and personal expression, which ultimately fuels the creativity they bring to major performances.
Social & Emotional Development
Building Confidence, Empathy, and Collaboration Through Ensemble Performance
The Performing Arts Booster Club understands that one of the most profound benefits of arts participation is the development of essential social and emotional competencies, and our work is structured to maximize this impact. Participation in an ensemble, whether a cast, orchestra, or dance troupe, inherently teaches collaboration, accountability, and empathy, as students must work together toward a shared, complex goal, requiring them to put the collective success of the group above individual ego. We fund team-building workshops and opportunities for students to mentor younger peers, which builds leadership skills and strengthens the emotional bonds within the community. The act of public performance itself is a powerful tool for building confidence and emotional regulation, as students learn to manage anxiety and connect authentically with an audience. Our support ensures that these high-value developmental opportunities are consistently available, helping to cultivate compassionate, resilient, and emotionally intelligent young people who are well-equipped to navigate complex social and academic challenges throughout their lives and form meaningful connections.

Programs/Services
Enriching the Artistic Journey from Middle School to Graduation and Beyond
The Performing Arts Booster Club proudly serves a broad spectrum of age groups, primarily focusing on students involved in middle school and high school arts programs across the Puyallup region, while also supporting community-based initiatives that include younger and adult learners. For middle school students, our funding often targets foundational resources, such as beginner instrument rentals, introductory drama workshops, and smaller-scale performance opportunities designed to build initial confidence and spark long-term interest in the arts. In the high school years, our support becomes more specialized and intensive, funding competitive ensembles, advanced masterclasses, extensive technical theater training, and a robust scholarship program for seniors pursuing arts degrees. We understand the resource differences required at each developmental level, ensuring that our funding is strategically deployed to maximize impact—whether it’s providing new sheet music for a sixth-grade choir or securing a guest conductor for a championship-level wind ensemble. This age-appropriate, tailored support ensures a continuous, high-quality artistic pathway for every student in the Puyallup community.
Community & Engagement
A Partnership That Fuels Artistic Success and Strengthens the Entire Program
Family involvement is the bedrock upon which the Performing Arts Booster Club stands, and we actively cultivate a deep, collaborative partnership with the parents and guardians of our student artists. We believe that the most successful arts programs are those where the support system extends seamlessly from the classroom to the home and the community. Our engagement efforts include regular communications detailing program needs and successes, transparent reporting on fundraising efforts, and frequent invitations for parents to attend meetings, volunteer for roles, and participate in performance-day logistics. Parents are encouraged to contribute their time and professional skills, whether it’s managing concessions, sewing costumes, assisting with set construction, or offering professional marketing advice. This high level of family integration not only provides critical operational support but also ensures that the students see their families actively invested in and valuing their artistic pursuits. This shared commitment creates a positive, supportive atmosphere that reinforces the students’ dedication, making the arts a priority that is championed by the entire family unit and the wider community.

Testimonials
Authentic Feedback from Parents on the Transformative Power of PFABC Support
“The support we’ve received from the Performing Arts Booster Club has been truly transformative for my son, Ethan, who is in the High School Band program. Before PFABC stepped in, our family was struggling with the high cost of instrument maintenance and travel fees for regional competitions. Thanks to a PFABC scholarship and their organized fundraising efforts, Ethan was not only able to get his French horn professionally repaired but also attended a selective summer band camp that completely changed his perspective on music as a career path. He has developed an incredible sense of discipline and responsibility, and his confidence on stage is truly inspiring. The club is run with such warmth and professionalism, making us feel like more than just donors; we feel like valued partners in his education, and we cannot thank them enough for their tireless dedication to ensuring financial barriers never prevent passion from flourishing.” — Laura P., Parent of a High School Band Student
“My daughter, Olivia, has been involved with the Drama Club since middle school, and the difference in the program’s resources over the last few years, directly due to PFABC’s efforts, is astounding. They funded a new set of wireless microphones and hired a professional dialect coach for the last production, which elevated the performance quality to something truly professional. Olivia has grown from a shy student into a confident, articulate young woman who can command a stage, and much of that credit goes to the level of quality and support the Booster Club provides. Their volunteer coordinator, Lisa, is fantastic—always making sure the students are fed during late rehearsals and that the parents feel welcome and useful in the process. We are so proud to be part of an organization that clearly prioritizes the whole development of the student, not just the final product on stage.” — Marcus K., Parent of a High School Drama Student
“As a parent of twins involved in different disciplines—one in Choir and one in Technical Theatre—I deeply appreciate the equitable support provided by the Performing Arts Booster Club. I initially worried that the technical side of the arts would be overlooked, but PFABC funded a crucial training workshop for the tech students on stage lighting software and purchased materials for set construction, demonstrating their comprehensive commitment. My son learned invaluable, marketable technical skills, while my daughter benefited from new sheet music and a vocal masterclass with a renowned regional soprano, all thanks to the club. Knowing that they are there to bridge the financial gap allows the directors to focus on teaching, and it allows me to focus on supporting my kids without the stress of constant, costly fundraising requests. They are an essential anchor for the arts community in Puyallup.” — Jennifer R., Parent of High School Choir and Technical Theatre Students
“We only recently joined the Puyallup community, and the Performing Arts Booster Club was one of the first groups to welcome us. My son, Noah, joined the Middle School Orchestra, and the resources made available through PFABC have been incredible, especially the access to high-quality loaner instruments and specialized coaching sessions. The club organized a ‘Meet the Artist’ event where students could interact with local musicians, which was highly motivating for Noah and gave him a clear vision for his future in music. The professionalism of the board and the clear communication about how funds are used have instilled great trust in us as new members. It’s clear they are deeply caring and meticulously organized, making sure the focus is always on creating opportunities and removing obstacles for the student artists.” — Sam L., Parent of a Middle School Orchestra Student
